Indianapolis for Mia Thermopolis!!!!!

O My Goodness!!!! I am sooooo excited to announce that I will be leaving in May to the Indiana, Indianapolis mission. All I can say, is I had NO idea that this is where I was supposed to go, but I KNOW it is where I am supposed to go. And every time I say that I am going to Indianapolis, it just sounds perfect. Just absolutely perfect. I know that is is where I need to go.

They just broke the ground the for Indianapolis Temple, and it should be finished in 2015. Many people are already asking about Temples, so this will be a great missionary tool.  I know the temple will make such a huge difference for the people in Indiana. It is the first Temple in the state, and so the members have been traveling to Ohio and other places to go to the temple. Temples are the Best.
Anyways, I  cannot stop smiling. I am ready to go, and just need to say..

You can't say Indianapolis, Indiana without a smile.
Try it, I dare ya.
Love You All!! And if you have no idea what a mission is, just look it up on Mormon.org. or comment, and I'll tell you.

mia+mia= a shmia day.

sometimes me and marley realize that people in high school are really self-absorbed, and that we're the only cool people we know, so we decide to get together. wellllll. this is how that went.

1. i call marley after work.
"hiiiiii"
"hiiiiiii"
hey, wanna go on a date with me?
yeah.
okay i'll pick you up in..
oh, i'm actually at liza's!

2.  I almost took the wrong turn twice, and then when i actually took the right turn into zupa's we were zups close to dying.

3. we get up to pay and they seriously cannot find my sandwich.
i would end up with the invisible sandwich....
question of the day: did you not have bacon on it?
pretty dang sure i had bacon on that sandwich thank you.

4.  what sandwich did you have?
um the TBA no T.
you had no turkey on it?
oh, um actually make that no tomatos..

5. spilling water on myself a total of five times.

5. getting whacked in the head with a highchair.
"somebody hit me with a highchair again."

6. marley bites into salad. "gives me the look" i'll be right back.
o no big, just cracked her very own tooth.

7. getting every single yellow light.

8. getting stuck behind the biggest bus.

9. Tim asks us, "who wants icecream?"
i obviously don't decline, and ask for the chocolate brownie shake please:)

but after watching this movie, and going home...
Pinned Image
i realize i never got my shake.

p.s. don't worry, went over the next morning to pick it up......
p.p.s ingore the fact that this list has two #fives.
p.p.p.s. this post is probably only slightly amusing to marley, but whateves.

The farewell

Guess whose farewell was this morning??
Right! Rusty's!
So of course I'm all stressed and freaking out and running late, as usual. I get there and beat Eliza (my seat saver) so I just chilled in my car for a few minutes until I could withstand no longer cause the meeting was starting in 4 minutes.
I get in, find Lize, and sit down all anxious and stuff, as usual.
Liza's mom is sitting on the stand (as the ward chorister) and frantically trying to sign-language something over to us inconspicuously.
Of course me and Lize are like "whaaaat?"
And the meeting begins.
"Ummm... There is a blue and white truck out in the parking lot with its lights on.."
*leaning over to Lize*
"It's mine. Oh my gosh it's mine. I would. I can't believe I did that."
"Thought we'd excuse you now and save you a jump later" *the congregation laughs*
Welp. There was no way ON EARTH I was getting up from my seat. Not. Happening.

Basically here's how the rest of the meeting went down:
Anxiously wait for the youth speaker and rusty's talk, the musical number gets up to the front, cough twice, leave my seat, cough some more going down the isle to give me an excuse, hit the door and BOOK IT to my car where I frantically turn off the lights and try to start it. It runs. Thank the heaves. BOOK IT back in and wait for the end of the musical number. Try to open the door, locked? Crap.... Wander around to the drinking fountain... Text Liza... Go back... Ok, nbd, there was just a weird latch thing on the door, opened it, ran back to my seat and hoped that I was invisible to the entire crowd.

Oh my fiend. I can't even begin to tell you how embarrassed I was. I mean how rude to just get up right when your friend finishes like "see ya fatties!" And come scampering back in red as a tomato as the next guy starts!

Guys, if there was ever a time for the earth to swallow me up, that would have been a good one.

Costco Gas and Closing Time

Once upon a time, Marley's truck was hooked up to the hay trailer during all of Christmas break due to caroling, hay rides, and moving hay. And when you pull a trailer, you burn LOTS of gas, and so Marley's truck's gas tank was completely and utterly empty.
Now you see, Marley had a nice big old pay check to put in the bank but forgot over the holidays, so first, she couldn't drive to school today. That was to be her first task on returning home (putting the check in the bank and buying gas, that is).
Well, 5:15 rolled around and she realized the bank was closing in 45 minutes and she needed that paycheck money for gas.
Discovering she had enough money for a full tank, her mom sent her with her Costco card to get a good price before heading to the bank. (There was no guarantee of making it to the bank at all with such little gas in the car.)
Coasting all the way to the gas station, Marley pulled in and swiped both cards, as directed.
DECLINED
"Excuse me?" She thought, "ok, try try again."
DECLINED.
"What the heck! Ok, when all else fails, what do we do? Of course! Call mom."
"Just run to the bank first," Mom advised.
"Not sure if I'll make it there and back but I'll try!"
So, Marley miraculously made it to the bank, but when she pulled in to the little drive thru slot she reached over and found that SHE HAD FORGOTTEN THE CHECK!!
Embarrassed, she pulled right on through and parked in a spot.
"Mom... I forgot my check...."
"Be down in a minute."
While waiting, I had to turn my car off as to not waste gas... Just to let you know, it's like .2 degrees outside. And it didn't take long for that to happen inside my car, as I did not have my heater on before (because guess what?! Having the heater on means WORSE gas mileage! And when you barely get 10mpg, you can't really afford it. Darn old truck...).
Teeth chattering, she waited 13 minutes for her mother to save the day!
Once the check was in hand, she went back through the drive thru at one minute til the bank closed and had to wait for like 3 minutes with the window open for the super slow lady to work out my money situation. Could it get any colder? I think not.
Money successfully in my checking account, I re-attempted the the Costco gas station, with mom there for moral support of course.
First challenge: get the machine to accept my debit card.
Success.
Second challenge: actually pump the gas.
Now, this is usually no problem for me, I've been buying my own gas since for ever.
But this time, the gas was spurting out of the tank instead of going into it. Panicked, I stopped the gas and mom told me to just hold the pump thing in it so i could control the angle or something.
Basically I had to stand there in the freezing for like 30 minutes (ok, it was probably like 5 but it felt like 30) while my gas pumped and $80 was spent. Yes, I said 80.
One of those little Costco gas attendant people discovered my spill and started to make a big deal out of it, creating a superbly awkward moment for me.
(You know, the 17 year old girl buying and spilling gas with a bunch of 40 year olds, standing out side in 0degree weather while everyone else waits in their car.)
Once all that was over, I was quite relieved to start my engine on a full tank of gas and crank up the heat, as my body was completely numb from spending 45 minutes in freezing weather (and by freezing weather, I mean waiting in the car with no heater, window rolled down, or outside pumping gas).
After making a lovely trip to Smoothie King to warm up a bit, I drove home.
Moral of the story: moms are superheroes and stuff... What?

The Mias' of Sunday School

Alright, first of all: I am too pleased to be added to this here blog. Apparently Emily and I share too many Mia Moments to go unshared.

Second of all: i know, I'm the HUGEST fiend for letting this sit in draft form for WEEKS. wont let it happen again. (hopefully)

Mia #1: (a) So I asked this guy to preference (Does "you owe me your life" ring a bell?) Well, he didn't answer for like a week and a half. Oh, and he's in my Sunday School class. Sunday arrived and guess who didn't show up to class-- the preference hopeful!! (yay for me, right?) but guess who did? oh, his dad. And of course Megan then proceeds to ask all about the Pref. situation and of course his dad is sitting like three seats away and she was talking way too loud. I hoped to escape the situation by laughing and hoping they'd catch the hint but basically it ended up with me practically shoving my hand in Em's mouth to get her to stop speaking of the matter. It was a lovely day in Sunday School.

(b) When he did answer, i had to pop a bunch of balloons and put together the puzzle pieces that were inside. This what it said:

So, that created a semi-mia moment for me. Also, we could not get it together for like AGES and it took all 4 Anderson girls to finally get it done. It's fine.

Mia #2: Another Preference/Sunday School one! whooo! so me and Emily walk in to Sunday School today and my date's like, "So do we have a plan for Saturday?" (yes, indeed the dance is Saturday. and have we planned anything yet? course not.) We just look at each other and are like "Nope!" ... ok, it's currently in process... like in 3... 2... 1... ok, Emily's here. time to plan this thing.

BYU Dates, BYU Dates, BYU Dates, BYU Dates. Sorry if it's redundant

So......

BYU is full of wonderful surprises, and one of those surprises is that boys just keep bringing girls on the exact same dates over and over again. These consist of mini golf, classic skating, bowling, divine comedy, and bowling, and mini golf.

Let me relate one of these dates that I've been on recently.

So I am in my apartment making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, when all of a sudden I hear my phone vibrating.
"Hello"

"Hi Megann, umm so are you going to the Ward Christmas party tonight? And what are you doing afterwards?"

"Yes I am, and I don't think I'm doing anything"

"Okay, well do you want to go bowling with some of us later?"

"Sure, that sounds fun."

So, after eating a delightful turkey meal, we head off to the bowling alley with 4 other couples.

But WAIT

I forgot I was "Grammy Megs", and I'm not supposed to lift things or really use my back for a while.

"So umm, I can't really bowl.....," I say. "I can't lift or throw the bowling ball"

"Okay well how about we get one of those racks, and I"ll put it on and you can just push it."

This sounded like a great idea.

So the night goes on, and I would stand up wait for my date to get the bowling ball walk over to the alley, and push the ball down the rack that a 3 yr old uses. Everyone would try to give me tips like.."push a little harder" or "aim the rack a little more to the right"

Just so you know bowling with a rack is way harder than it looks people

I got the lowest score I've ever gotten, looked like a complete dork, and pretty much everyone was looking at me.

But throughout the whole date I smiled and tried not to let people see the complete stupidity I felt inside as I walked back to my seat each time I bowled.

So in the end, now I can say that I've bowled with a rack and survived socially for the most part. At least that's what I think.

The End

library card.

this past saturday i went to the library to get a couple books.
but to specifically get my library card.
so i go up to the front desk and ask for one.
and the lady looks at me, and is all,
"oh, we actually just changed the policy today. let me look at my email."

of course you did.

so now apparently you have to be eighteen to get a library card on your own.....
what a joke.

stay classy america!
